Major or Indie: New ceilings starting with Birdcall Productions

In this economic drought we have in the music biz only the imaginative and creative will survive. The big studios suggest that the specialty biz isn't so "special" anymore and even tougher times are ahead for indie labels. Well a bunch of boutique labels don't seem to be listening to the downfall, in fact a few are thriving.

The Birdcall Productions puts an old-new element back into the biz - LOVE. An upstart company, in the vein of the little engine that could, they bleed for music and work harder than any label I've seen in recent years. They throw big, rock hard, 4 level parties that go till the crack of dawn. Their artists, such as Cahn & Yang, wreak of originality and individualism. They put their feet in the grain and make sure to twist till its absorbed.

Paramount and Warner Bros. have already gobbled up their indie labels and shelved many artists, so why can't they make any money the way Birdcall is? Couple reasons.....

-Mass media audiences are falling as options increase.
-Major record labels and Music Publishers are at war, Indie Labels are their own publishers
-Indie Labels can make money on sub-platinum releases, Major record company costs are out of control
-They've forgotten how to use and find talent in a saturated market
-The money in sales is way down for majors but niche companies are thriving
-They’re distracted by squeezing their assets and cutting costs rather than finding and marketing new music.

Indie labels now have the option to use other revenue sources particularly live music, merchandise and licensing. They're able to give away music and find other means of revenue to exploit their company and artists. Digital music will be source of revenue used to market their real products. Users will be encouraged to download, stream and SHARE music.

Just as everything changes in the blink of an eye, so shall the downfall. An uprising has already shown its colors and begins in the new age. The Indie Label is alive and prospering under new direction...The Birdcall Productions.
